The Inner Workings The inner working of a human being is a jungle. Sometimes wolves dominate. Sometimes wild hogs. Be wary when you breathe. At one moment gentle, generous qualities, like Joseph's, pass from one nature to another. The next moment vicious qualities move in hidden ways. In every instant a new species rises in the chest--now a demon, now an angel, now a wild animal, now a human friend. There are also those in this amazing jungle who can absorb you into their own surrender. If you have to stalk and steal something, steal from them.

El Funcionamiento Interno El funcionamiento interno de un ser humano es una jungla. A veces dominan los lobos. Otras los jabalíes. Cuando respires se cauteloso.  En un instante las cualidades gentiles y generosas (como las de José) cambian de un modo de ser a otro. En el siguiente momento otras cualidades perversas se mueven de manera oculta. En cada instante una nueva especie surge en el pecho -- ahora un diablo, ahora un ángel, ahora un animal salvaje, ahora un amigo humano. En esta maravillosa selva también existen aquellos que te pueden absorber en su rendición.   Si tienes que acosar y robar algo, robales a ellos.

Commentary: We have sub-personalities in us and a core self. Jung called the core self the central organizing archetype, Buddhists call it the Buddha, and Christians call it the indwelling Christ. If we are not in peace and feeling love we can know that a sub-personality has deposed the legitimate core self. Knowing that there is a core self and that the core self is absent from consciousness opens a door to the possibility of transformation of consciousness.

Comentario: Tenemos sub-personalidades y un núcleo del ser. Jung llama al núcleo del ser el arquetipo organizador central, los budistas lo llaman Buda, y los cristianos el Cristo interior. Si no sentimos paz y amor sabemos que una sub-personalidad ha destituido al legítimo núcleo del ser. Saber que existe este núcleo central y que además su existencia no depende de la conciencia abre la puerta a la posibilidad de transformar nuestra conciencia.
