The Lame Goat - La Cabra Coja - 37

The Lame Goat
You have seen a herd of goats
going down to the water.

The lame and dreamy goat
brings up the rear.

There are worried faces about that one, but now they are laughing, because look, as they return, that one is leading.

There are many different ways of knowing.
The lame goat’s kind is a branch
that traces back to the roots of presence.

Learn from the lame goat,
and lead the herd home.
La Cabra Coja

Has visto algún rebaño de cabras

2017 Commentary: See with the eyes of the lame goat inside you who realizes that the perceived demands of life on your time this day are relatively unimportant when compared to a vibrant presence.

  1. Carl Jung said that properly the first half of life was one of movement outward and the second half of movement inward. The saying from the Sufi's, "there is no reality but God, only God" is helpful in loosing the grip of looking outward for life's meaning.

  2. More...Humans differ from other animals in the aspect of having a theory of mind (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evQsOFQju08 ). This develops around the age of 3 or 4 years of age and involves a feeling of separation from others. Before this occurs a child may think while talking with grandma on the phone that grandma can see what the child sees. The development of a theory of mind for humanity is the story of the Garden of Eden and the process each child must move through to develop an ego. Life kicks each child out of the garden and into the lone and dreary world where I know that no one can really feel what I am feeling.

"Unless you become as a little child..." from Jesus is a statement of the call to return to unity consciousness.
