The Uses of Fear A donkey turning a millstone is not trying to press oil from sesame seed. He is fleeing the blow that was just struck and hoping to avoid the next. For the same reason, the ox takes a load of baggage wherever you want him to. Shopkeepers work for themselves, not for the flow of communal exchange. We look to ease our pain, and this keeps civilization moving along. Fear is the architect here. Fear keeps us working near the ark. Some human beings are safe havens. Be companions with them. Others may seem to be friends, but they are really consuming your essence like donkeys lapping sherbet. Detach from them, and feel your flexibility returning. The inner moisture that lets you bend into a basket handle is a quickening inside that no one is ever afraid of. Sometimes though, it is fear, a contracting, that brings you into the presence.

Los Usos del Miedo Cuando un burro esta girando la piedra del molino no está tratando de exprimir aceite de las semillas de ajonjolí. Está esquivando el chasquido del látigo y esperando evitar el siguiente. Por la misma razón el buey lleva la carga a donde quiera que tu lo dirijas. Los comerciantes  trabajan para sí mismos no para favorecer el intercambio comunitario. Buscamos aliviar nuestro dolor y esto hace que la civilización continúe moviéndose. El miedo es el arquitecto. El miedo nos mantiene trabajando cerca del arca. Algunos seres humanos son refugios seguros. Manténte en su compañía. Otros aparentan ser amigos, pero en realidad están consumiendo tu esencia como burros lamiendo nieve de garrafa. Aléjate de ellos y sientirás que tu flexibilidad retorna. La humedad interna que te permite doblarte hasta convertirte en el asa de una canasta es un estímulo interno del que nadie tiene miedo. Pero en algunas ocasiones es el miedo, una contracción, lo que te lleva a la presencia.

Commentary:The Holy Grail is a sacred cup that symbolizes the soul, the container of awareness. My identification with the content of awareness requires me to operate from fear; the content is always transitory. All things pass away.  Greed comes from the will to increase what is in my identity. Enlightenment is the movement of identity from donkey nature to Holy Grail nature, the source of all content.

Comentario: El Santo Grial es una copa sagrada que simboliza el alma, el recipiente de la Conciencia. Cuando me identifico con el contenido de la conciencia empiezo a actuar desde el miedo; el contenido siempre es transitorio. Todas las cosas y situaciones pasan. La avaricia surge de la voluntad de aumentar lo que está en mi identidad. Estar iluminado es el proceso de cambiar nuestra identificación con la naturaleza del  burro a identificarnos con la esencia del Santo Grial, la fuente de todo el contenido.
